eco-union, with collaborators from public and private organizations and the active participation of an important group of experts, organizes on 28-29 October 2010 at the Espai Francesca Bonnemaison, the 3rd Global Eco Forum an annual event that meets different economic, social and political sectors from the society and an integrated project that conjugates creativity, innovation and culture with action and ideas that promote new models of sustainable and responsible development.
The conservation and promotion of the biodiversity are key elements to secure the goals of a sustainable society. The accelerated social and economic changes cause the exhaustion of natural resources and the disappearance of species and habitats in many cases irreversible. These environmental losses impoverish the natural capital of the society and put in danger our social, economic and environmental welfare.
The Agreement on Biological Diversity, ratified by the Summit of the United Nations for the Environment and the Development, tries to secure a significant reduction of the lost of biodiversity on global, regional and local scale. This challenge is not only of the environmentalist sector, since the biodiversity concept affects and is responsibility of all the social actors: civil companies, organizations, administrations and citizenship, all of us interchange goods and services based on the ecosystems and have a fundamental role in their protection and promotion.
Global Eco Forum 2010 is consistent with the International Year of the Biological Diversity (2010) and contributes to the multidisciplinary, multi-agent and multilevel focus that requires the conservation and promotion of Planet Biodiversity. Within this frame, this third edition acquires a cross-curricular programme that deepens in the (Bio)Diversity related to the economy, policy, city, organizations and society.
